GammonSnap lets you review backgammon position evaluations directly on your phone. After capturing or importing a position, you can explore the suggested moves and see how the different options are rated.

The clear and familiar presentation helps you understand why one decision is stronger than another. You can revisit interesting positions, recognize mistakes, and learn from the choices you made during a game.

The analysis provides the detail of a traditional backgammon program in a format designed for mobile use.

Share Your Positions

GammonSnap lets you share positions in different formats depending on what you want to show or discuss. After tapping a share button, a selection screen appears where you can choose to share just the original image, present it as a quiz, or include the evaluation together with the recommended moves.

Each sharing format can be customized further. You can use the original photo to preserve the appearance of the real board or replace it with a digital board for a cleaner and more readable result. The XGID can also be added, allowing other players to import or recreate the position in compatible backgammon software without setting it up manually.

Evaluation Engine

GammonSnap uses GNU Backgammon to evaluate positions. Analyses are performed on a server using the predefined Supremo setting, so an internet connection is required when requesting a new evaluation.
