GammonSnap detects backgammon positions from photos, screenshots, and imported images. Take a picture of a real board or import an existing image, and the detected position is prepared for analysis.

GammonSnap includes a dedicated capture screen for taking photos of backgammon positions. When you open it, a live camera preview appears while the board is detected in real time. As the position is recognized, an overlay highlights the detected elements directly on the preview.
Tap the match score display to enter the current score. It will be saved together with the image and the detected position.
On supported devices, the 1.0x and 0.5x buttons let you switch between the standard and ultrawide cameras. This is only shown when an ultrawide camera is available.
You can also switch between single-image and multi-image mode. In single-image mode, the capture screen closes after taking a photo. In multi-image mode, it remains open so that you can capture additional positions. Multi-image mode can also be used with lock-screen capture, as explained in the next section.

When you want to capture several positions and review them later, multi-image mode reduces the number of steps between photos.
If you lock your phone while the capture screen is open, the camera session resumes directly over the lock screen when you wake the device. This allows you to capture the next position without unlocking your phone and navigating back to the capture screen.
